February - move to action

As January finally comes to an end, after it’s standard 15-week duration! I am glad to be moving into a more gently energised space. I gave myself a lot of space to rest, relax and process over the last few weeks and I am starting to feel the benefit as we tiptoe into February.

I came across a great question online a few years ago that still resonates today, I must paraphrase as although I screenshot it at the time, I of course did nothing else to identify said screen shot and it is lost amongst the well over 3000 pictures on my phone! Alas, the gist is:

‘Ask not have I done enough to rest? But have I rested enough to bring my WHOLE authentic self to the table?’ -Author unknown (due to same flawed concept to capture the quote).

This allows us to reframe the idea of rest to be earned, or only viable once achieving some specific outcome. We tend to go full force into everything, pile up our metaphorical plates of to-dos and tasks, then only rest when our body demands it. Like when we are floored by a virus, or the cold that appears on the second day of a long-awaited holiday! Who else has been there?

When we incorporate rest into our lives and prioritise it, we build our resilience. We also get to recuperate from stress levels that have (sometimes unknowingly) crept up each day. It allows our minds to have a break, our cells to renew and the body to get rid of toxins, and waste we do not need.

Many clients, with a range of conditions or complaints will have some form of difficulty around sleep, down time, stress management and physical recovery that has a cumulative impact on day-to-day life.

A lot of people don’t even realise they are stressed but have health conditions cropping up, or are more tense than usual, or finding less joy in life overall and they underestimate just how much rest can aid their journey to wellness.

Thanks to the additional care I took for myself and slowing down throughout the last month, I can already feel more excitement, I have new ideas, and a renewed sense of purpose fanning the flames of my imagination.

So many more people are asking questions in practice, not just about rest in and of itself but people are wanting to know more about their bodies, their seasons of life, especially in my over 40s female contingent. We are talking more about perimenopause and changes that can start affecting the wellbeing, physical health, activity level and even relationship side of life, and I am so here for it.

Let me know if you were able to take a slower entrance into 2025 so far, how your body and mind feels as a result and if you are starting to feel those more energised thoughts this February where is your focus going with them?
